THE FAMILY;
Samaire was lucky enough to grow up in a fairly close-knit family. Her parents were happy people whose positive attitudes rubbed off on their children. That’s why the three children usually grow extremely uncomfortable when conflict arises, doing anything in their power to avoid it.
--Samson Perkins – 50 – Sam was the black sheep of his family. While his four older brothers and one older sister carried on the family tradition of becoming surgeons, he broke it and went off to the land of printing and publishing. Not before falling deeply in love with the kindest woman on Earth. He brought his high school sweetheart along as he moved to Broken Bay, starting their life together there. He wed her two years after residing in the town – that year being the year they started their family. The same month their first son was born, Samson started his own printing and publishing business a few towns over from Broken Bay. He spent a lot of his time at work, but then enough time at home to bring two more children into the world. He brings money to the table with his healthy work ethic, but his life doesn’t revolve around his business. He’s a seasoned painter and sculptor who enjoys teaching his children all about art, no matter how much they whine and complain.

--Sally Graham-Perkins – 50 – Sally was the one and only child that her parents ever had, not that she would know much about them. Her parents died before she experienced a first birthday. Social services picked her up and brought her to an orphanage, and since she was still a baby, people were lining up to adopt her. She landed with a single woman whose husband left her childless, after sixteen years of marriage. Growing up in a house with just two women, she was taught how to take care of herself. How to keep up with the household, how to work, and how to depend on herself. She was never spoiled. That was… until she met Sam in high school. The boy fell at her feet, and he was willing to do anything for her. She dated him for fun at first, but then he turned out to be way more important than she expected. He was her escape when she was tired of only trusting herself; he allowed her to be vulnerable. That’s why she was more than willing to leave with him to a new town, and even more willing to bear his children. She worked very little when she was pregnant, abandoning her independent nature, but she is now professionally known as a travel agent.

--Salvatore Adam Perkins – 28 – Sal was the first child of the young, happy couple. He was supposed to be their only one, but that didn’t go as planned. He grew up a well-behaved, quiet person. He was like any other Honours student. He did the work that he was expected to do, graduated with a 4.0 GPA. Soon after graduation, he suddenly left the coop. The only things missing were a bag, some clothes, a few of his favourite books, and let’s not forget the 150,000 dollars he took out of his savings account. Turns out he had been hitch-hiking around the United Stated, living off the land. He only used the money he took out of his account if he was struggling to find food. Then he met a woman and settled down with her, eventually having a son who is now eight months old. After the birth of his son, Sal finally got in touch with his family again, telling them all about his new life. Sally made it a priority to travel to Connecticut every other weekend to see her grandson, dragging everybody else in the family with her.

--Savannah-Anne Perkins – 19 – Savannah is the angel. She’s the child that gave little trouble, if she gave any at all. She listens to directions all the time. She’s never done anything to disappoint her parents. Except, maybe that one time she got drunk with her younger sister and broke into someone’s house. It was her first and only offence. Otherwise, she’s the poster child for perfection. Or, so she likes to make it seem. When really, she’s just like any other teenager. She parties a little too much, drinks a little too much, and smokes a little too much. Her parents know the girl that does well in school that gets along with everybody, especially her little sister. Savannah and Samaire are best friends, and nothing could tear them apart. The nineteen year old never wants to see her sister hurt; she can’t even stand it when someone gives her a weird look. That’s why she’s planning on getting Samaire out of the narrow-minded town the second she graduates.

HONOURABLE MENTION; Silas Axil Perkins!
--Samaire was a twin. It came as a surprise to everyone in the family when they found out, since twins hadn’t happened in the family in six generations. But when it came time to deliver the active babies, tragedy struck the Perkins family. Samaire came out healthy as ever, but due to complications and lack of time, her brother was a stillborn. Samson really helped his wife get through it, always reminding her that they had a new baby girl to cherish, but that baby girl was a lot to deal with. She was always fussy, refusing to eat a lot, crying almost non-stop. Even as an older child, she threw tantrums and proved to be a handful. Sam liked to say she acted like that because she knew that something was missing; her twin was gone. But, then, as we all know, she was given a comic book and that changed her life. Made her easy to deal with, making the family happier.
THE BOY;
There is no simple way to explain Samaire’s feelings about Ryder Wesley. It was a weird relationship; two opposites falling in love. Like the big bad wolf falling in love with little red riding hood. She loves him. At least she thinks so. It’s confusing for her, as it is for anybody. She thinks about him every minute of the day, and all she ever wants to do is be in his presence. At the same time, she can’t mutter up the damned three words that are a usual breakthrough in a relationship: “I love you.” It doesn’t seem hard to do until she actually tries to say it. The few times that he opens up and says it to her, she either a) ends up being a sarcastic little shit, b) she kisses him as a distraction, or c) she brings on a change of topic. So far it has been smooth sailing, but she knows that sooner or later he’s going to realize she is avoiding it. Until then, she enjoys what she has with him. Btw, she loves his little brother, Brody. He is the younger brother she never got to have; someone she can talk to about comic books. Just a F.Y.I.
